Nordic Art will strive to consistently provide high-quality products and services with a distinct reference to Scandinavian style with an emphasis on clean lines, colors, and functionality.

My Story

Being a Norwegian plays an important part of life.  The History, the seasons, the scenery and the traditions influence and order the days.  Memories and folktales are not easily forgotten, but are a part of my thoughts and ideas, some very visible and strong, others mere shadows or silhouettes.  The silence that is often felt in a room where someone is working becomes a part of my personality.  Labor intensive projects mirror the history and traditions of the past.  Old forgotten bits and pieces are being re-used to create something new.  Lines and grid-patterns create structure and order along with systems for production that makes it possible to time the end of a project.  The labor put into every object or project where small details or fragments are put together, seems to reflect life and time itself building one minute after another, one piece onto another, one stitch next to another, to create a whole.

I am now embarking on a new project, to start a business where I can share my passions for arts and crafts both in producing art and design projects for customers as well as teaching others crafts techniques such as knitting.

My Process

In my work I focus on memories, old traditions and time.  This has been a line to follow through my projects.  I like the thought of collecting what was, what is and what is yet to come as well as the idea that what is being done is somewhat planned or controlled.  Old techniques and work methods influence how I work today.  I prefer time-consuming projects that show my personality and convey some of the thoughts I have about my work.

I often use collected, old and forgotten materials to create something new. By using old materials, that is, things that have been forgotten or have lost their value, I try to recreate or renew their value. When choosing materials and working methods, I want to highlight the fragility of the works, so that this reflects the idea of time and the fragility of memories. Lines and grid patterns help to create structure and order in the work. The order and choice of working methods sets a time for the completion of a project. By putting the minutes and materials one after the other, piece after piece, stitch after stitch, I try to create a larger whole.
