A DRESS FOR EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR

DESIGN APPROACH

This project was inspired by the book “100 Dresses” which tells the story of a young, poor girl. She told her classmates that she had 100 dresses at home.  Her classmates never believed her.  When the girl became ill and passed away, her classmates came to see her room where they discovered several drawings of themselves in dresses.

This project speaks of childhood dreams and memories, and how they are stitched together to become a whole.

Created using leftover fabrics and embroidery floss and fishing line.

The finished project is approximately 3 x 2 meters.
